Pilates is the ultimate in core training and here at Bbodysmart we offer cost effective, small group sessions as well as personal training reformer sessions in our beautiful, bespoke Pilates studio based in Walshaw, Bury.

No two classes are ever the same and we have a maximum of six people per class to ensure that you receive all the individual attention you need for an effective and fun workout and no one is left behind.

Denise Benson

Owner of BbodySmart Pilates. AKA The nice one (sarcasm implied)

I have been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. My passion started as a young girl doing ballet and tap and everything else that goes with it. I danced at least 3 times a week, plus competitions at weekend – how my Dad put up with it for all those years I’m not sure! I have taught various styles of fitness and exercise classes as well as teaching personal training in colleges. I then fell in love with the method of Pilates in the late 90s and after many years I decided in 2014, to open up the first dedicated Pilates studio in Bury.

I love my job and I am surrounded by fantastic people. I am so lucky to have built a team and community of clients with whom I can share my Pilates wisdom with. 

You can usually find me popping in the studio to teach my Friday morning classes or helping to improve the education of our team and working on the continuous development of the business.

Lindsay

After joining a gym over 19 years ago, I have never looked back! Over 5 years ago Denise (the owner of BbodySmart) approached me to see if she would like to become a fitness instructor. I jumped at the chance to do something I really enjoy…

I became a qualified fitness instructor, & through Denise’s nurturing I have since qualified as a Personal Trainer. I love learning all about nutrition and why different foods affect the body in different ways. In November 2015 I completed my Diet Specialist Nutrition Course.

I now use my hobby to help other people and my enthusiasm helps to motivate others to achieve their goals. I’m not just passionate about Pilates, I also enjoy lots of different forms of exercise such as Spin, Pilates, HIIT and Running.  

My classes are fun and pack a punch so come and join me on Tuesday evenings

 

 

Leanne

I discovered Pilates through injury rehabilitation and quickly fell in love. I saw myself transform and get stronger every time I did a class, so after many years I decided to train to teach and share my passion for the Pilates method.

I love the variety and creativity involved as well as the technical side of Pilates!

I enjoy teaching pre and postnatal clients and I have recently completed studies to gain a more in depth understanding of musculoskeletal conditions and spinal conditions to achieve my Level 4 certificate in Pilates and Exercise Therapy.

I teach at Bbodysmart 5 days a week so you can usually find me at the studio either teaching, practicing or working on our marketing and business development.

Pete

In 1985, I gained entry to the renowned Northern Ballet School, here in Manchester. In 1988, I began my professional dance career and worked at some of the most famous theatres and cruise ships in the world, reaching the levels of Soloist, Principal Dancer, Dance Captain, Choreographer and Company Manager.

Only after retiring from the world of dance, whilst establishing a successful P.R career and Agency in Cape Town, did I discover the benefits of Pilates and in 2014 I qualified as a BASI Pilates Mat Instructor. Ever hungry to learn more about Pilates and the endless benefits clients can enjoy, I underwent extensive training with the legendary STOTT Lead Instructor Trainer, Lisa Palmer, in Cape Town in all aspects of STOTT Pilates®. Having completed the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrels and ZEN•GA® courses, he is a STOTT certified Mat, Reformer, ZEN•GA® & Total Barre Instructor.

I now enjoy teaching varied & challenging classes here at Bbodysmart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays as well as working with private clients on their Pilates journey,  whether for rehabilitation or improving athletic performance. 

 

Karen

After dancing professionally and teaching dance and fitness for many years, gaining a wealth of knowledge over the past 40 years, I love to share, with new and existing clients, the original and pure approach to Pilates,

I love using all the apparatus on offer here at the studio, and especially working with the fitness balls and utilising the mat and small props in to my classes on Tuesday evening and Wednesday mornings and we have a laugh along the way.

Claire

My interest in Pilates started during my dance training. I found Pilates complimented my dancing whilst giving me greater mind-body awareness. Pilates improved my posture and helped me to develop strength and a greater range of movement whilst preventing injury. Training as a Pilates Instructor was a natural progression of my dance studies. I am enthused and excited at how effective and beneficial Pilates is for EVERYONE from builders to office workers.

Pre and postnatal women to athletes. It is so satisfying to see how clients transform and grow in confidence as they experience their posture change, bodies strengthen as well as recovering from injury. I am a big advocate for exercise as a stress and anxiety buster. There is nothing worse than feeling restricted or in pain/ trapped in your own body.  

 

 

Lorraine

I started dancing at an early age and trained with Scottish ballet before continuing my training in London at Birds Performing Arts College. 

Pilates has always been a huge part of my life as it compliments dance training very well so I decided to move into teaching when I retired from dancing and qualified in Mat Pilates, Pilates for Orthopaedic Conditions, Pre and Post Natal, Pilates with small equipment, Barre Pilates and Reformer Pilates.

I teach every Thursday night and always have something new to share with my clients to keep them on their toes, I also love to work with my private clients on their various goals.

Lauren

I am a certified teacher with Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility and Progressing Ballet Technique.  In addition to my fitness certifications, I was professionally trained as a ballet dancer, which lead me into the world of Pilates.

My teaching style and training plans cater to the individual needs of my clients and are ideal for rehabilitation, athletic conditioning, pain management and much more.

I am enjoying being a part of the Bbody Team and currently teach Monday and Thursday morning classes, I am loving the use of all of the apparatus that you can find on offer
